As a common man, an ordinary citizen of this world, I find it increasingly difficult to remain silent amidst the relentless river of atrocities that humans inflict upon one another. It wrenches my spirit to witness a world, that has made monumental strides in technology, culture, and unity, still mired in conflicts contradicting the very essence of humanity. The present scenario in Palestine, the ceaseless violence and the heart-rending crisis of people, torn from their homeland and reduced to titles of refugees, is a stark example of our failure as a global community. The U.S. government, as a behemoth of influence and power, has the responsibility to recognize the weight of its decisions when injecting funds into Israeli actions against Palestinian civilians. This is not about choosing sides but it concerns ending complicity in crimes against humanity. Providing unabated monetary and military support doesn't underscore strategic alliances; instead, it perpetuates an environment where violence, displacement, and annihilation of human lives become normalised. The quest for peace may be complex, but it is time we demand its rigor. A ceasefire is the immediate requirement – a pause for the wounds of innocent men, women, and children to heal, a moment for grieving families to breathe, a chance for diplomacy and negotiation to prevail over automatic guns and airstrikes. I implore a cessation of the funding for weaponry that finds its way to further destabilizing a population already teetering on the brink of despair. It is the moral duty of the U.S. government, of each one of us, to advocate for an international policy that champions humanity, that fosters peace and not war. This is not just about Palestine and Israel; it’s about each place where power overshadows justice, where lives are counted as collateral damage, where humanity yearns for a fighting chance against war.
