Warehouses are pollution hot spots that attract trucks that emit toxic tailpipe pollution into our air, in neighborhoods that are often already overburdened with other types of pollution and environmental hazards. This is especially concerning given the US Environmental Protection Agency's decision to eliminate the Endangerment finding and deregulate fossil fuels and their harmful pollution and eliminate federal tailpipe emissions standards.
The Warehouse Pollution Reduction Act (SB 3732/HB 5600), newly introduced during the 2026 legislative session, is a common-sense solution that will:
• Reduce dangerous air pollution associated with warehouse operations;
• Establish permit conditions for new, modified, and existing warehouses; and
• Increase transparency and community participation in warehouse permitting.
Protect our air, our kids, and our future and secure real climate and environmental justice for all Illinois communities.
Thank you
