Today I’m writing to urge you to support and co-sponsor the Make Billionaires Pay Their Fair Share Act. The case for this bill is crystal clear. As we all know by now, the wealthiest Americans have seen their fortunes explode while working families struggle with rising costs. Billionaires often pay lower effective tax rates than teachers and nurses because they can avoid taxes on unrealized gains and use loopholes unavailable to wage earners. This bill, as I understand it, would finally close those gaps and ensure the ultra-wealthy contribute proportionally to the country that enabled their success. We need this revenue for critical investments in healthcare, education, and infrastructure, and a thousand other things that we need, like investment in clean energy to help counter the corrosive fossil fuel addiction this country has. The current system where someone worth $100 billion pays a smaller percentage of their wealth in taxes than someone making $50,000 a year is indefensible. This isn't about punishing success. It's about basic fairness and making sure everyone plays by the same rules. Please co-sponsor this legislation and vote yes when it comes to the floor. Thank you.
