I am writing again to express my and my wife’s outrage at the ongoing damage being done to our economy, and to our personal savings, by this Republican administration’s needless tariffs. This administration has started a trade war with the rest of the world—excepting Russia and North Korea—for which working Americans are now paying. Retirement savings in 401k plans are evaporating. Individual stocks are being decimated. Corporations who rely on global supply chains are in free fall. My wife and I spent this weekend revising our retirement options, hoping we will be able to retire when this debacle ends. All because of these needless tariffs. Congress MUST take action to override this administration’s destructive tariffs. It is past time for Congress to reassert its Article 1 power of the purse and stop this madness. You are at member of Congress. You and your colleagues could end these absurd tariffs immediately. Why are you remaining silent? Your constituents are suffering while the president golfs and you say nothing. At this point, a recession is all but guaranteed. Please fix this before our nation, and the world, fall into another depression. My wife and I strongly urge you to do everything in your power to repeal these harmful tariffs.
