An Open Letter

Stop Holding Housing Hostage for Political Power President Trump just canceled the signing of a major bipartisan housing bill — not because of policy, not because of the Constitution, but to force Congress to pass election legislation that would make it harder for millions of Americans to vote. A signing ceremony was already scheduled. Both parties supported this bill. Families who cannot afford a home were counting on it. He scrapped it anyway. This is not governing. This is extortion — using your constituents’ desperate need for housing as a bargaining chip to tighten his grip on electoral power before the midterms. This is a pattern. He has done it before. He will do it again — unless legislators like you say enough. I am asking you to do three things: Publicly demand the President sign the housing bill immediately and without conditions. State clearly, on the record, that no president has the right to hold Americans’ basic needs hostage for political gain. Refuse to reward this behavior with silence. The people who elected you are watching. Do not let this stand.
