Fulfill Your Oath: Demand Accountability and Defend Our Democracy

To: Rep. Patronis, Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody

October 24, 2025

I am writing as a deeply concerned constituent who has had enough of Congress’s silence and inaction in the face of the Trump administration’s ongoing lawlessness and abuse of power. The destruction of the East Wing of the White House without authorization, the killings of civilians on international waters, the pardons granted to violent January 6th insurrectionists, and the reckless authorization of new drilling in Alaska are not isolated scandals—they are symptoms of a government that has lost its moral compass and its constitutional backbone. How can any member of Congress claim to “support and defend the Constitution” while allowing such brazen violations of law, ethics, and human life to go unchecked? The Founders did not design a government where one man could operate above the law, demolish historic property, violate international norms, and use the machinery of state power to reward political violence. Yet that is exactly what is happening, and far too many members of Congress are content to look the other way. The American people did not send you to Washington to cower before authoritarianism or corporate influence. We sent you there to act—to exercise oversight, to investigate wrongdoing, and to protect the constitutional order that has made this country a beacon of democracy. Every day that you remain silent in the face of corruption and illegality, you become complicit in the erosion of that order. I implore you to find your courage. Hold this administration accountable. Demand hearings, pursue criminal referrals, and use every tool at your disposal to stop this grotesque abuse of power. Do not let fear, careerism, or corporate donors dictate your conscience. Your oath was not to a man or a party OR A CORPORATE OVERLORD—it was to the Constitution and to the people of the United States. History will remember those who stood up for democracy when it mattered most—and those who chose cowardice instead. I urge you to choose courage.
