Vote NO on the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz
From: A constituent in Hurst, TX
November 15
I am writing to urge you to vote NO on the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to any role within the Department of Health and Human Services. His nomination is deeply troubling due to his well-documented history of spreading misinformation and opposing evidence-based public health measures. Allowing someone with his views to oversee the health of our nation jeopardizes the safety and well-being of all Americans. As you know, this country owes much of its independence and resilience to advancements in public health, including vaccines. During the Revolutionary War, variolation (an early form of vaccination) helped protect General Washington's troops from smallpox, allowing them to fight effectively. Vaccines remain one of the greatest public health achievements in human history, saving countless lives worldwide. Unfortunately, RFK Jr. has repeatedly promoted dangerous falsehoods about vaccines, claiming links to autism that have been conclusively disproven by decades of rigorous scientific research. His baseless assertions erode public trust in immunizations and leave individuals—particularly vulnerable populations like children, the elderly, and our military—at greater risk from preventable diseases. Moreover, his misinformation extends beyond U.S. borders. His activism against vaccines has contributed to confusion and reduced vaccination rates in other countries, where preventable diseases like malaria have claimed lives unnecessarily. At a time when global public health collaboration is critical, appointing someone who undermines science and public health efforts weakens our standing and leadership on the world stage. RFK Jr.'s views on other health issues, such as HIV/AIDS and antidepressants, further highlight his disregard for scientific consensus. Appointing him to lead a department as vital as HHS would undermine public trust in vaccines, healthcare institutions, and the policies necessary to protect our nation's health. The head of HHS must be someone who prioritizes evidence-based policymaking, safeguards public health, and strengthens trust in our healthcare systems. I strongly urge you to reject this nomination and advocate for a qualified, pro-science candidate who will champion the health and well-being of all Americans. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust you will make a decision that upholds the values of scientific integrity and public safety.
