Release the SNAP contingency funds

To: Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

October 31

I am writing again to ask why this Republican administration refuses to release the SNAP contingency funds to support the nutritional needs of millions of our most vulnerable citizens. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 requires 3 billion dollars in funding to remain available through September 30, 2026 for use in carrying out this necessary program. Withholding those funds is illegal. One in eight Americans, including many Texans, rely on SNAP to pay for their groceries. Millions of Americans are about to go hungry during the Thanksgiving season because of a political stunt. My wife and I ask you again to use your authority as a member of Congress to demand the release of the SNAP contingency funds.
