This proposed legislation is fundamentally discriminatory against transgender individuals and threatens to undermine principles of equality and inclusion in sports. By defining gender strictly based on biological characteristics present at birth, it fails to recognize the complexities of gender identity and expression. Denying athletes the opportunity to compete in accordance with their authentic selves is not only unethical but potentially harmful to their mental health and well-being. Promoting fairness in athletic competition should not come at the expense of marginalizing an already vulnerable group. There is a lack of scientific consensus on the supposed advantages of transgender athletes, and existing policies by governing bodies already address concerns around competitive balance. This bill perpetuates harmful stereotypes and stigma, rather than fostering an environment of understanding and respect. Instead of pursuing divisive legislation, efforts should be directed toward creating more inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity and allow all individuals to pursue their passions without discrimination. Upholding the dignity and rights of transgender people should be a priority, not further marginalization through misguided policies. I urge you to reconsider support for this bill and instead champion measures that promote true equality and acceptance in sports and society as a whole.
