Please enact AB 1856, revising and refining the AB 1043 age verification law

To: Sen. Stern, Gov. Newsom, Asm. Rodriguez

From: A constituent in North Hollywood, CA

May 28

AB 1856 (Age verification signals: software applications and online services) is a good revision of AB 1043, exempting open source operating systems from the age verification mandate and restricting the requirement to software that is hosted on an App Store. This shifts the burden of responsibility back towards big tech and leaves free/open-source operating systems in place as an escape hatch from them.
