Hold Donald Trump financially accountable for the destruction he has caused to publicly owned federal property. The Ellipse — the front lawn of the White House — has been reduced to a flattened pad of bare dirt after Trump staged a UFC fighting event there for his birthday. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has turned green with algae bloom. These are not minor scuffs. This is documented, visible damage to national landmarks that belong to the American people.
Scotts Miracle-Gro pledged $1 million for grass restoration, but Fox5 New York reported those funds are being split between marketing and research — not a full repair. The National Park Service says full restoration will take more than a year, meaning the grounds will not be recovered in time for America 250. Taxpayers are being left holding the bill for Trump's vanity events. He promised to make Washington beautiful. Instead, he handed us dirt and algae.
Congress must pursue restitution from Trump directly. The damage is real, the costs are real, and there is no reason the public should absorb them. Make him pay.
