Re: House Bill HF 2438 I drive 4000 (not a typo) miles a year in my EV. I bought it a year ago to replace a 14-year-old minivan and to help save the planet from burning more fo ssil fuels. I paid a significant amount in registration, and just paid $1200 (not a typo) to renew my tabs. My old minivan had a registration fee less than $50. You're for cleaner energy, right? Moving toward cleaner cars? Keeping the air above the Twin Cities clean instead of an LA lookalike? Why on earth, then, would you punish EV drivers by nearly TRIPLING the fee? Minnesotan EV drivers already contribute more to road maintenance than their gas-driving counterparts through higher tab fees and motor vehicle sales tax. . ng gap. It will only slow down our progress on clean transportation EVs currently make up less than 1% of the vehicles on Minnesota’s r oads. Punishing those of us driving EVs won’t fix the state’s fundi My husband is considering replacing his 2014 Jeep with an EV, but if we EV drivers are going to be OVERcharged, taxed MORE than our share, he'll stick wi th gas. And he only drives 2000 (not a typo) miles a year! I understand we need to pay for crumbling transportation infrastructure, but doing do on the backs of EV drivers is not the way. Do you think all EV drivers are rich? We're not. I'm living proof. We're solidly middle class. You know, the ones you claim to represent. Stick it to the billionaires. Be FAIR to EV drivers.
