Veto and reject House Bill 1165

To: Rep. Brown, Gov. Armstrong, Rep. Stemen, Sen. Roers

From: A constituent in Horace, ND

April 25

North Dakota legislators should reject House Bill 1165, which unnecessarily restricts the mail-in voting window in an attempt to disenfranchise voters. The state has an extremely low rate of voter fraud, so such a measure is unwarranted. This bill aligns with the current administration's efforts to undermine voting rights nationwide through executive order, which is already facing legal challenges. North Dakota should side with protecting the fundamental rights of its citizens to vote freely and securely, rather than enacting measures that make it harder to participate in democracy without justification. Defending fair elections and expanding access to the ballot box should be the priority.
