Day three. I am writing again because talking is not enough.
Democrats need to defund the Department of Homeland Security. Not issue statements. Not express concern. Defund it. Force a vote and put everyone on the record.
If Trump just steals the money from somewhere else, fine. Let him do it out in the open. At least then it’s clear who is abusing power and who tried to stop it. Right now, the silence and hesitation make it look like this is being quietly accepted.
Standing for nothing is not strategy. It’s surrender.
People are watching masked federal agents operate in cities like this and wondering where the opposition actually is. If Democrats can’t draw a hard line here, then what exactly are they waiting for?
Defunding DHS is not symbolic. It’s leverage. It’s one of the few tools Congress actually has. Use it. Make it public. Make it uncomfortable.
Even if it fails, even if Trump finds another way to fund it, at least the record will show who tried to stop this and who didn’t. That matters.
Stop managing optics and start acting like this is the emergency it is. Put a clear line in the sand and stand on it.
