I am writing to express my outrage and deep concern regarding the Trump administration’s blatant defiance of court orders in refusing to bring back a man who was wrongfully deported. This is not just a bureaucratic error—it is a willful violation of our Constitution, the rule of law, and the basic principles of due process.
The courts—an independent branch of government—issued a clear directive. Ignoring that order is not only contemptuous, but authoritarian in nature. This administration is acting as though it is above the law, setting a dangerous precedent that threatens the very fabric of our democracy.
This incident also highlights the deeply flawed and inhumane nature of our immigration system. People are being detained, deported, and denied basic legal rights with little to no recourse. Families are torn apart. Lives are destroyed. All while those responsible face no accountability.
I urge you and your colleagues to take immediate action. Congress must hold the executive branch accountable and assert its constitutional role as a check on executive power. Silence in the face of this kind of lawlessness is complicity.
This is not a partisan issue—it is a moral and constitutional one. Please, do not let this moment pass without standing up for justice, due process, and the rule of law.
