Stop the Sabotage of Social Security – Protect Our Benefits Now!
To: Rep. Huizenga
From: A constituent in Kalamazoo, MI
March 8
I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to safeguard Social Security from intentional sabotage. The Trump administration, under the pretense of “efficiency” through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), is dismantling the Social Security Administration (SSA) with mass layoffs, office closures, and a hiring freeze aimed at crippling the program. These measures are not about improving efficiency – they are a calculated assault designed to undermine Social Security, allowing them to justify cutting benefits and enriching their billionaire friends. Reports indicate that the SSA is being forced to eliminate over 7,000 jobs, reducing its workforce from 57,000 to 50,000, closing 47 field offices, and consolidating regional offices from ten to four. This will severely impact access to services, particularly for seniors, disabled Americans, and survivors who depend on timely payments for their survival. Former SSA Commissioner Martin O’Malley has warned that these cuts will result in significant delays in processing benefits, making it increasingly difficult for individuals to receive the money they have contributed to the system throughout their working lives. This is a calculated effort to dismantle Social Security from within. The ultimate objective is clear: to make the program fail, paving the way for privatization, gambling our benefits on Wall Street or Crypto, and transferring trillions into the hands of the ultra-wealthy. This is nothing short of theft. As your constituent, I demand that you: 1. Publicly and vigorously oppose these cuts and reveal them for what they truly are – a direct attack on hardworking Americans. 2. Introduce or support legislation to fully fund the SSA, ensuring it has the necessary staff and resources to effectively serve the American people. 3. Call for immediate oversight hearings to investigate the true motives behind these cuts and hold those responsible accountable. 4. Prevent any attempts to privatize or undermine Social Security, ensuring it remains a vital resource for all. Social Security is not just a giveaway – it’s a commitment. For decades, Americans have contributed to this system, and it’s our responsibility to safeguard it fiercely. Stand up and advocate for us, or we will hold you accountable in November.
