The state must prioritize supporting educators and investing in our public education system. SB231, passed in 2023, created a vital matching fund program to provide much-needed teacher raises through contract negotiations. However, the funding authorized by this legislation is set to expire at the end of June. We cannot allow this critical support for our hard-working teachers to lapse. Renewing and extending SB231 in the upcoming 2025 legislative session is imperative to retain quality educators and demonstrate our commitment to Nevada's students. Competitive compensation is key to recruiting and keeping talented teachers in our classrooms. By continuing the matching fund program, we can uplift our education professionals while strengthening schools across the state. The future success of Nevada's children hinges on ensuring our teachers receive the respect and resources they deserve.
