No SAVE Act

To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick, Rep. Perry

From: A verified voter in Middletown, PA

February 6

I am writing as a constituent to express my strong opposition to the SAVE Act. While election integrity is important, this legislation creates unnecessary and harmful barriers for eligible U.S. citizens who are already legally entitled to vote. The SAVE Act places disproportionate burdens on voters by requiring documentation that many citizens do not readily have access to. In particular, it would unfairly impact married women, whose legal names often do not match their birth certificates due to name changes after marriage. For many, obtaining the required documents is time-consuming, costly, or practically impossible—especially for older voters, low-income individuals, and those living in rural areas. Voting is a fundamental constitutional right, not a privilege to be restricted through bureaucratic hurdles. Policies that make it harder for lawful citizens to participate in our democracy undermine public trust and disproportionately silence certain groups of voters rather than addressing real threats to election security. I urge you to consider the real-world consequences of the SAVE Act and to prioritize legislation that protects both election integrity and broad, equitable access to the ballot. Our democracy is strongest when every eligible citizen can exercise their right to vote without unnecessary obstruction. Thank you for your time and for your attention to this critical issue.
