The budget framework extends tax cuts that were not paid for, adding trillions to the debt burden inherited by future generations. The proposed spending cuts to discretionary programs do not offset the lost revenue or the increases in defense spending. This approach contradicts principles of fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets that have been previously advocated.
