Follow Wisconsin's Lead and Veto All Anti-Trans Legislation

To: Gov. Whitmer, Sen. Nesbitt, Rep. Andrews

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

March 31

I'm asking you to follow Governor Tony Evers' example and commit to vetoing any anti-transgender legislation that reaches your desk. On Transgender Day of Visibility, Evers vetoed five bills targeting trans youth, keeping his promise that Wisconsin will not become "a less safe, less inclusive, and less welcoming place for LGBTQ people and kids." The bills he rejected would have banned trans girls from school sports, forced schools to out trans students to their parents, criminalized gender-affirming healthcare, and allowed lawsuits against providers until patients turn 33. These weren't about protecting anyone. They were designed to exclude trans people from public life and threaten medical professionals with litigation. Evers has now vetoed anti-trans bills multiple times across two terms, stating clearly that "Republicans' anti-LGBTQ bills targeting trans kids will never become law as long as I'm governor." His vetoes stand because Wisconsin Republicans lack the two-thirds supermajority needed to override them. Trans youth need leaders who will protect their access to healthcare, education, and basic dignity. Make the same commitment Evers has made. While other states give way to discrimination, you can choose to stand with trans kids and their families.
