Oppose Trump's Unconstitutional Federal Voter List Executive Order

To: Gov. Kelly, Sen. Rose, Rep. VanHouden

From: A constituent in Overland Park, KS

April 1

I need you to publicly oppose and challenge President Trump's executive order creating a federal voter list and restricting mail-in ballots. This is a massive and unconstitutional voter suppression effort that violates the Constitution's clear grant of election authority to states, not the federal government. The Constitution gives states the power to decide the "Times, Places and Manner" of elections. Trump has no authority to mandate ballot design changes, create federal voter lists, or threaten states with funding cuts for refusing to comply. The Brennan Center for Justice has already confirmed this order is unenforceable and unconstitutional. The justification for this order is a lie. Mail-in voting fraud is virtually nonexistent. The Brookings Institution found only 0.000043% fraud across four election cycles, approximately four cases per 10 million mail votes. Even the Heritage Foundation documented only 387 instances of absentee ballot fraud since 1982. Trump himself just voted by mail in Florida. This order is designed to give the President power to control who votes by mail, targeting Democrats for mass disenfranchisement ahead of midterms. Stand with states' rights and constitutional authority. Block this order and protect voters' access to the ballot.
