As a constituent of Wisconsin, I urge you to take immediate action to defund ICE and reject harmful narratives that scapegoat immigrants for political gain. Stephen Miller’s false claims that immigrants are overrunning Eau Claire betrays a dangerous alignment with xenophobic rhetoric. Immigrants here are essential workers and neighbors, contributing to local economies and community resilience. ICE’s enforcement policies, including workplace raids and family separations, create fear and distrust, undermining public safety by discouraging people from reporting crimes or accessing services. The need to defund ICE is clear: its budget could instead fund mental health, affordable housing, and education. ICE’s existence perpetuates systemic racism and trauma, diverting resources from solutions that uplift all communities. Stephen Miller’s history of promoting white nationalist agendas demands legislative accountability. Defunding ICE is a step toward justice, reinvesting in communities rather than policing them. I ask you to: 1) Introduce legislation to fully defund ICE within 90 days. 2) Oppose all measures expanding ICE’s authority or militarized tactics. 3) Publicly condemn dehumanizing rhetoric like Miller’s, advocating instead for humane immigration reform.
