WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR GOP ACTION ON IRAN? OR ANYTHING ELSE?

We the people are not only speaking up, we’re screaming. A new Washington Post–ABC News–Ipsos poll, shows 59% of Americans believe Donald Trump doesn’t have the mental sharpness necessary to lead the country. 55% think he does not have the physical health to serve as president. 54% don’t think Trump is a strong leader. 67% think Trump doesn’t carefully consider important decisions. The logjam ceasefire with Iran seems to be teetering. The US is now going to start escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Unless there is some negotiating magic going on behind closed doors, this will be an escalation of hostilities on a major scale. The chest-thumping on both sides is taking us nowhere good. Irans says: “The Strait of Hormuz will not be opened by the tweet of the President of the United States; the management and control of this waterway is in the hands of Iran. Nothing will have the right to enter without permission, and in the event of a violation of this matter, it will be considered a legitimate target.” Then they hit a UAE oil hub. Trump told Fox that his military blockade of Iranian ports is the “greatest military maneuver in history.” And that if the Iranians target US ships, they will be ”blown off the face of the earth.” Meanwhile, at the White House, Trump told a group of small-business owners that he “call[s] it a mini war.” He tells y’all it’s not a war, no worries, no need for congressional approval, don’t worry your pretty little heads. Then immediately turns around and says the opposite. He’s the prime example of a lying, cheating, philandering boyfriend. And y’all just keep saying ‘Please lie. We promise to believe.’ Why are only Democrats in Congress calling out the fact that the Trump administration argued on Friday that it did not have to get congressional approval for the Iran war at the 60-day mark required by the War Powers Resolution because the war had “terminated” on April 7? How could they make this claim despite the fact that a blockade is an act of war and the US continues to blockade Iranian ports? Asked on Saturday how he could say the war had terminated when the US military was enforcing the blockade, Trump told reporters: “Well, it’s a very friendly blockade. Nobody’s even challenging it.” Sen. Duckworth, a Democrat, who lost both legs when serving as a US Army helicopter pilot in the Iraq War, posted: “U.S. and Iranian ships are exchanging missile fire today in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump’s claims that hostilities have ceased were bullsh*t. He is lying to the American people and prolonging his disastrous war of choice—And he’s doing it illegally.” So in order to prove the point made by Americans in their vote of no-confidence in the Ipsos poll, Trump posted an AI image of President Joe Biden on one knee with the caption: COWARDS KNEEL,” an AI image of President Barack Obama with the caption “TRAITORS BOW,” and an AI image of himself with his fist raised and the caption “LEADERS LEAD.” This is an American president. A Republican president. Who control all branches of government. A president who daily demonstrates he is not up to the job. Who is leading the world into chaos. Whose only loyalty is to himself. And whose only solution to every problem he creates is to double down on bad decisions. And the Republicans in Congress allow it. Enable it. Encourage it. And choose to do nothing at all. Astounding dereliction.
