I am writing to urge you to use every tool at your disposal to oppose any proposed expansion of DHS detention facilities—both locally and nationwide. These centers are widely documented as holding people in unsafe, inhumane conditions. With over 70,000 individuals detained annually, the addition of new “mega‑warehouses” would only worsen these circumstances. Immigrants are vital contributors to our communities, and we cannot accept such facilities in our neighborhoods—or anywhere else in the country.
