STOP the LAWSUIT against Section 504. In a lawsuit led by our Attorney General Ken Paxton, seventeen states are suing the federal government to get rid of Section 504.
Section 504 is a VITAL law that protects people with disabilities from discrimination. When the US Department of Health and Human Services finalized a rule in May asserting that gender dysphoria can be considered a disability under federal anti-discrimination laws, it codified what the overwhelming majority of courts have found for nearly a decade. The new rule put states on notice: Discrimination against transgender people in employment, education, health care, childcare, housing, and elsewhere may violate federal disability protections. While in disagreement with some sections, 17 states are now asking the federal court to strike down the rule in its entirety - to get rid of Section 504 altogether. The lawsuit states that Section 504 goes against the United States Constitution.
If you are disabled or know a person with any disability (EVERYONE DOES) know this, they will be negatively impacted by the removal of Section 504. I support protect of all of God's people- even if you don't. And even if you don't support life affirming care for trans individuals, Section 504 is meant to protect ALL handicapped individuals from the sheer meanness and ignorance, lack of empathy or humanity, lack of Christian love for humanity exhibited by Paxton. The lawsuits harms countless Texans and wastes tax payers' money- drop the lawsuit.
