I am writing to express my profound opposition to the “One Big Beautiful Bill” recently passed by the House. This legislation proposes drastic cuts to essential programs like Medicaid and SNAP, threatening the well-being of millions of Americans. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that these changes could result in over 13 million people losing health coverage, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations such as seniors, low-income families, and individuals with disabilities. Moreover, the bill includes provisions that ban Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming care, further marginalizing transgender individuals. These measures not only undermine the social safety net but also compromise the health and dignity of countless citizens. It is deeply concerning that while essential services face severe reductions, the bill simultaneously extends substantial tax cuts benefiting the wealthiest Americans and corporations. This approach exacerbates income inequality and neglects the needs of the most vulnerable in our society. I urge you to oppose this legislation and advocate for policies that prioritize the health and well-being of all constituents, ensuring that economic growth does not come at the expense of our most fundamental social programs.
