Restore support for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives, and fight the attempt to restore Segregation. I’m in my 60s and remember people on TV shouting *terrible* things at families and school children who just wanted equal access to quality education. I remember people being excluded from good jobs and careers due to ethnicity, race and religion. (Jobs unaffected by ethnicity, race or religion.) When “the Best Man for the Job” could be excluded from even applying based on these factors. When disabled folks were often excluded from the workforce, not by their inability to work, but by the perception that disabled people needed to stay home and out of sight. Forced to rely on charity and family both willing and able to support them. Well educated blind or deaf people working in places like brooms “factories/sheltered workshops” to “earn” their “charity” despite being otherwise perfectly employable with relatively minor accommodations. DEI actually means a desegregated workplace (gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability) where the Best Person for the Job actually has a chance at the job. Leading people to misunderstand the situation as granting an “undeserved” advantage is not just a lie, but harmful to society, and sociopathic. I’d exclaim “WTAF is wrong with these people?!” But it’s glaringly obviously a combination of racism, sexism, ablism, LGBTAQ antagonism, ageism… etc. and just deranged and sick. We have to fight this neo-Nazism (because that’s what it is) rebranded however we can. This includes directing Public School funding ( schools that can’t segregate or exclude students) to Private “charter” schools that can segregate, discriminate, and exclude students. Worse they can take the funding for a student, abandon the student, and keep the funding. The private and charter schools are heavily segregated, and provide wildly different levels of care depending on their student body. They can just dump a student who doesn’t test well enough, which Public Schools cannot. Public schools often serve our most vunerable students, the ones who are unacceptable to the private schools. Please protect these vunerable students and block the attempts to re-segregate and exclude the kids that rely on public systems being available.
