A fellow Mississippian concerned on proposed budget cuts

To: Sen. Wicker, Sen. Hyde-Smith, Rep. Ezell

From: A constituent in Long Beach, MS

May 10

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the potential budget cuts to SAMHSA. While I understand that budget cuts are necessary to ensure our country's financial strength and future, cuts to this program would be devastating. There are so many people that are struggling in silence with addiction. Chances are you have a loved one that is hiding it out of shame. In addition, the mental health issues in this country are rampant and instead of funding cuts I believe that better oversight on how these funds are utilized, would be more productive than cuts to funding. Please keep this in mind before voting to eliminate this much needed federal program.
