Congress Must Stop Unjust Deportations and Demand Oversight of Executive Actions

To: Rep. DelBene, Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A verified voter in Kirkland, WA

May 17

We are deeply alarmed by reports that the Trump administration and Tulsi Gabbard pressured intelligence officials to alter assessments to justify mass deportations of Venezuelan migrants using the Alien Enemies Act. This is a dangerous abuse of power and a politicization of intelligence that threatens our democracy and the rule of law. We urge Congress to act immediately: • Launch a bipartisan investigation into this misconduct • Strengthen whistleblower protections for those who resist political pressure • Restore due process for all facing deportation • Pass anticorruption reforms to prevent future abuses Congress must reaffirm its oversight role and defend our democratic institutions from executive overreach. Our democracy depends on it. NYT link 🔗
