I am writing to urge the senator in the strongest terms possible to resist any calls for cutting funding to Medicaid.
As a parent of two children with disabilities, a nurse in our community, and a volunteer with the Meals On Wheels program, I know firsthand how far Medicaid stretches dollars and keeps members of our community functioning and healthcare jobs strong.
Gutting Medicaid would not only quite literally put many people with disabilities out on the streets, it would also slash jobs in the healthcare sector, which provides stable and productive employment for members across all levels of society.
It is clear that this is a far more worthy investment than tax cuts for people who are already in possession of more wealth than they can ever spend in this lifetime, which appears to be the impetus for these cuts.
My family and I have always paid our taxes and been proud to contribute to a strong America. Taking our tax dollars away from their congressionally appropriated homes, such as Medicaid and the national parks, to put them in the pockets of wealthy companies and citizens is something that needs to be stopped immediately.
People all across the country are organizing to say that they want wealthy billionaires to take their HANDS OFF of programs which were created to keep the American people strong.
