Subject: Restore Residential Solar Tax Credits to Protect Households and Strengthen the Grid Dear Member of Congress, I am writing to urge you to restore and extend the residential solar tax credit that expired at the end of 2025. American households are facing rising and increasingly unpredictable utility costs driven by grid strain, infrastructure expansion, and growing demand from large industrial users. Yet residents are given few tools to protect themselves from these costs or to participate meaningfully in strengthening grid resilience. Residential solar and storage are among the most effective consumer-facing solutions available. Distributed generation reduces peak demand, eases grid congestion, improves reliability, and allows households to stabilize long-term energy costs. When paired with storage, it also reduces dependence on increasingly stressed centralized infrastructure. Allowing the residential solar credit to lapse while utility rates rise places the burden squarely on families and small businesses—those least able to absorb escalating costs. Meanwhile, large infrastructure users often benefit from subsidies, tax incentives, and guaranteed cost recovery mechanisms that shield them from risk. Restoring and expanding the residential solar tax credit would: * Provide households with a practical way to manage rising utility bills * Reduce grid stress through distributed generation * Improve resilience during outages and extreme weather * Support local installation and maintenance jobs * Offer consumer protection in an era of growing energy volatility This is not about ideology or preference for one energy source over another. It is about fairness, risk reduction, and giving households a way to protect themselves when energy costs rise due to decisions beyond their control. I urge you to act quickly to restore and strengthen the residential solar tax credit so families are not priced out of energy security. Thank you
