I’m writing to demand your full opposition to the so-called Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act, H.R. 22), which recently passed the House. This bill imposes unnecessary and harmful barriers to voter registration under the false pretense of election security. It would especially harm women, seniors, rural residents, young voters, and naturalized citizens — communities that already face disproportionate challenges accessing the ballot.
Requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register, and banning online or mail-in registration without in-person submission of documents, would strip the right to vote from tens of millions of eligible Americans. Women whose legal names differ from their birth records, people born in rural counties without easy document access, and low-income voters without current passports or birth certificates would be most affected.
There is no credible evidence of widespread noncitizen voting. The SAVE Act addresses a manufactured problem and creates real barriers to democratic participation.
In addition to opposing this bill, I am asking you to go on record with the public and answer the following:
• What will you do to ensure every eligible voter in your state can register and vote without facing undue barriers?
• How will you protect voters from intimidation, harassment, or misinformation at the polls?
• What concrete steps will you take to ensure election officials and poll workers are safe and free from threats?
• How will you guarantee that our electoral system remains secure, inclusive, and fully functional for 2026 and beyond?
I respectfully request a written response detailing your position on the SAVE Act and the actions you will take to protect voting rights in your state and nationwide. Your leadership on this issue matters.
