Pass legislation limiting executive powers or initiate impeachment proceedings

To: Pres. Trump, Rep. Stoddard, Sen. Lee, Gov. Cox, Rep. Owens, Sen. Curtis, Sen. Pitcher

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

May 15

The Trump Administration's actions blatantly disregard the rule of law and separation of powers enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Impounding congressionally appropriated funds, firing government officials without cause, dismantling federal agencies established by Congress, and issuing unconstitutional executive orders all represent a disturbing pattern of executive overreach that undermines our democratic system of checks and balances. This unlawful conduct must cease immediately. Congress has a constitutional duty to rein in such abuses of power and restore adherence to the founding principles that have preserved our republic for over two centuries. Decisive legislative action is urgently needed to curb the administration's lawless behavior, protect civil servants from further retaliation, and reassert Congress's power of the purse. The future of our democracy hinges upon upholding these constitutional norms.
