Moms, parents, and caregivers in our district are deeply concerned about the impact of the Medicaid funding cuts included in H.R. 1 on hospitals, maternity wards, and nursing homes. The $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid included in H.R. 1—the largest health care cuts in American history—threaten families’ health, access to care, and financial stability. I strongly urge you to take action to restore vital funding to ensure our hospitals can remain open and our families can access the care they need.
Communities nationwide are already feeling the devastating impacts of these changes. Medicaid provides essential revenue that allows hospitals to keep their doors open. Without this support, many facilities are at high risk. Currently, an estimated 330 rural hospitals, 100 urban hospitals, 570 nursing homes, and nearly 200 health centers face potential closure. When these facilities close, the consequences for our community are severe: patients will be forced to travel much farther to access care, families across the country are going to face longer wait times in overwhelmed emergency rooms, and entire communities left without access to care.
The health of our families depends on a strong, fully funded health care system. I stand with parents and caregivers in urging you to support the restoration of Medicaid funding and protect the essential services our hospitals provide.
P.S. If you really want to fix healthcare just enact the Medicare For All Of Us Act - HR 3069 that will save our country three quarters of a billion dollars every year by eliminating wasted overhead and by negotiating drug costs for all of us.
BTW there is something very wrong with states like Florida and Colorado importing drugs from countries that have Universal Healthcare and negotiated better prices than we do. Get On It.
