An Open Letter

To: Rep. Crane, Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly

From: A constituent in Kearny, AZ

March 20

**Support the No Getting Rich in Congress Act** I'm asking you to cosponsor the No Getting Rich in Congress Act, introduced by Rep. Haley Stevens. This bill bans Members of Congress, their spouses, and dependents from trading individual stocks, cryptocurrency, and commodities, and it closes the loopholes that allow public servants to profit from privileged information. Sen. Mullin's purchase of Chevron stock right before the US invasion of Venezuela is exactly the kind of abuse this legislation would prevent. When officials can trade on information they learn through their positions, they have an incentive to prioritize personal profit over constituent needs. That's why Congressional approval sits at just 17 percent. The bill goes beyond stock trading. It permanently bans former officials from lobbying for foreign adversaries like China, requires spouses who lobby to register and report their activities, and bars Members and their spouses from serving on corporate boards. These are common-sense reforms with bipartisan voter support. Public service should not be a path to personal enrichment. This legislation draws a clear line between serving communities and serving personal financial interests. Cosponsor this bill.
