Block Planned Parenthood Defunding in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" Act
To: Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman
From: A constituent in Lititz, PA
June 30
The proposed budget reconciliation bill contains a harmful provision that would prohibit Planned Parenthood and other health clinics from receiving Medicaid reimbursement for any services, including critical care like cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing. This measure is unnecessary, as federal funding already cannot go towards abortion services due to the long-standing Hyde Amendment. Defunding Planned Parenthood would devastate access to essential health care for over 2.5 million people, predominantly low-income women with limited options. Studies show that accessible contraception services actually reduce abortions and save the government money in pregnancy-related costs. Denying Americans this care is dehumanizing and harmful to public health. I urge you to reject this megabill and defend access to reproductive and preventative care for all.
