No third terms for Presidents

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Balderson

From: A constituent in Thornville, OH

January 24, 2025

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding any potential proposals to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow Presidents to serve more than two terms. The two-term limit for Presidents, as established by the 22nd Amendment, is a cornerstone of our democracy and a vital safeguard against the consolidation of power. The framers of our Constitution recognized the dangers of prolonged leadership, and history has shown that term limits promote accountability, prevent authoritarianism, and ensure the regular infusion of new ideas and leadership. Removing this limitation could set a dangerous precedent, undermining the democratic principles upon which our nation was built. As your constituent, I urge you to oppose any legislation or efforts that seek to eliminate or alter the two-term limit for Presidents. Preserving this critical check on executive power is essential to maintaining the balance of our government and the trust of the American people. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your service to our country. I respectfully request that you consider the importance of upholding the values of democracy and ensuring the continuation of fair and representative governance. I look forward to your response and hope to see your commitment to protecting the integrity of our Constitution.
