Protect vital public broadcasting's educational mission
To: Rep. Scanlon

I strongly disagree with the proposed legislation to defund NPR and PBS. These organizations provide high-quality educational programming that has tremendously benefited generations of Americans. Their journalistic integrity is well-established, and their content remains unbiased and factual despite the unsubstantiated claims of partisan bias. PBS in particular has made immense contributions to early childhood education through shows like Sesame Street that teach fundamental academic and social skills. Defunding PBS would deprive millions of children, especially those from underserved communities, of vital educational resources. Moreover, PBS and NPR offer insightful documentaries, news analysis, and cultural programming not found on commercial networks. Rather than stifling these invaluable public institutions based on unfounded allegations, Congress should safeguard their funding to preserve an essential public service. I urge you to reconsider this misguided effort and instead work to strengthen independent, non-commercial media that enriches our society.
