Protect AmeriCorps

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Bell

From: A constituent in Saint Louis, MO

April 26

As a former AmeriCorps member, I was able to serve my community while being provided a living stipend. This partnership enabled me to support programs and services that are desperately needed while receiving funds toward my education. AmeriCorps is a program that is mutually beneficial--a true everyone-wins situation. The volunteers are able to serve and the communities are able to receive needed services. Cutting this program will only harm Americans--both those receiving services and those providing them. I urge you to fight to protect this program. The eight Return on Investment studies that AmeriCorps has conducted in recent years show for every $1 federal dollar spent, AmeriCorps generates as much as $34.26. The total AmeriCorps budget accounts for approximately less than .000143 PERCENT of the total federal budget for 2025. Any claims that AmeriCorps funds are a misuse of federal funds are misleading and untrue. Again, I urge you to protect a program that has only proven its benefit to the American People and has proven its responsible use of federal funds.
