ICE is not enforcing laws. It is breaking them

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

February 3

ICE is out of control and violating the Constitution daily. While there is a legitimate role for enforcement of our immigration laws, that does not involve warrantless searches, warrantless abductions and deportations, or murders of US citizens. ICE has become a lawless paramilitary accountable to no one. Alex Pretti’s death has been ruled a homicide. His killers have been identified. Why have they not been arrested? ‘Paid leave’ is not an appropriate punishment for premeditated murder. How many more US citizens will die in extrajudicial executions before ICE is reined in? How many more soccer moms and ICU nurses will be summarily executed by unchecked paramilitary thugs? ICE is not enforcing laws. It is breaking them. ICE must be made to follow the laws and obey the Constitution they are founded on. ‘Officers’ must be held fully accountable, including the leadership which ordered them to do so. You, as member of Congress, swore an oath to protect the Constitution. You have a duty to protect the Constitution. My wife and I urge you to demand ICE ‘officers’ obey the law. Or better, remove ICE from DHS, revert it to the former Immigration and Naturalization Services and have it protect our actual borders.
