Disability IDEA needs to stay in Education!

To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick, Rep. Scanlon

From: A constituent in Wayne, PA

June 25

As your constituent, I urge you to oppose transferring oversight of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) from the U.S. Department of Education to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Students with disabilities deserve strong educational protections, consistent enforcement, and clear accountability. Shifting IDEA oversight risks weakening families’ ability to enforce their children’s educational rights and could reduce access to the specialized supports students need to succeed. Please protect IDEA, preserve educational accountability, and ensure students with disabilities remain at the center of federal education policy. Thank you.
