Pass Kids Online Safety Act to protect children now

Congress must act swiftly to pass the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) before the end of the year. The evidence of immense harm caused by social media platforms to millions of children is overwhelming and undeniable. Companies like Snap, ByteDance (TikTok), and Meta (Instagram) have internal data confirming the vast scale of issues like sextortion, sleep deprivation, eating disorders, self-harm, and sexual exploitation that their products enable and exacerbate for minors. Yet these same companies have resisted implementing meaningful safeguards to protect kids. KOSA represents a carefully crafted, bipartisan solution to address the most egregious issues without infringing on free speech rights. Recent revisions spearheaded by Elon Musk and X (formerly Twitter) have further strengthened the bill's protections for free expression. With broad support from parents, lawmakers from both parties, tech leaders, and the public, passing KOSA is a moral imperative. Any further delay allows preventable harm to continue ruining young lives. The time to act is now. Enact KOSA immediately to finally hold social media companies accountable for creating safer online experiences for our youth.
