I am sending this message as a constituent to let you know you have a choice to support these two resolutions - S.J.Res. 104 and H.Con.Res. 38. Please vote yes.
The war we have been warning about is here. The United States and Israel have launched an unprovoked, illegal assault on Iran, and we are already seeing horrific loss of innocent life, including dozens of children reportedly killed in a strike on a girls’ school in Minab. We fear that many more civilians – as well as American servicemembers – will be killed in the days and weeks to come.
Peace was on the table, as the Omani Foreign Minister made clear before this. There was an opportunity even at that late hour to turn away from war. Yet it appears the operation was months in the making, even predating the January protests and crackdown.
In this dark hour, Congress must act to limit and end U.S. involvement in this illegal, unauthorized war of choice. I urge you to prevent further escalation and help bring this war to an end as soon as possible by voting for S.J.Res. 104, the Kaine-Paul Iran War Powers Resolution, and voting for H.Con.Res. 38, the Khanna-Massie Iran War Powers Resolution, and any related measures to remove U.S. forces from hostilities against Iran absent explicit congressional authorization. This is the moment to reclaim Congress’s constitutional war powers and ensure the United States is not dragged deeper into a catastrophic regional conflict.
Please take action: stand for peace and against war by voting for S.J.Res. 104 and H.Con.Res. 38 and working to terminate U.S. participation in hostilities against Iran. 70% of Americans oppose another war in the Middle East. Don’t let us down.
