Support Social Security Fairness Act for public servants
To: Sen. McConnell, Sen. Paul
From: A constituent in Lexington, KY
November 14
The Social Security Fairness Act of 2023 aims to repeal the Government Pension Offset and Windfall Elimination Provisions that currently reduce or eliminate Social Security benefits for many public sector workers like teachers. As educators, we dedicate our careers to serving communities and shaping future generations. However, the existing provisions penalize us by diminishing the Social Security benefits we have rightfully earned through years of payroll tax contributions. This Act recognizes the injustice of these offset rules and seeks to ensure fair and equitable treatment of public servants' Social Security entitlements. Teachers and other public employees deserve to receive the full benefits they have paid into the system, without unfair reductions. Passing this legislation is crucial to upholding the principles of fairness and acknowledging the invaluable contributions of educators to our society.
