Stop the Paramount Mega-Merger: Protect Consumers and Creators I am writing to urgently request that you take decisive state-level action to block the proposed merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery. With federal oversight falling short due to corruption, it is critical that state leaders step up to defend the public interest. Consolidation on this massive scale harms everyone. History shows that mega-mergers consistently lead to higher prices for everyday consumers, fewer jobs, and lower wages for industry workers. Furthermore, despite claims that this deal is "pro-competitive," combining two of the largest media giants heavily restricts the market. It leaves independent creators with fewer platforms to sell their work, drastically reducing their negotiating power. Ultimately, this corporate consolidation shrinks the diversity of voices, stories, and perspectives available to the public. California’s Attorney General has already sounded the alarm on these antitrust risks, and multiple states are coordinating to investigate. I urge you to join this coalition immediately. Please use every tool at your disposal to halt this deal before these assets intermingle and the damage becomes irreversible. Our media landscape needs more competition and diverse voices, not corporate monopolies.
