No Secret Deals: Make the White House Play by the Rules

To: Sen. Husted, Rep. Beatty, Sen. Moreno

From: A verified voter in Columbus, OH

June 6

I am writing as a constituent who believes our government must serve the public interest, not the private gain of administration officials. Regardless of party, using public office for personal enrichment is a fundamental violation of the public trust. Recent reports reveal a systemic disregard for ethical standards that strikes at the core of our constitutional system: - Pay-to-Play: Corporations tied to the President’s family are receiving massive government backing while bypassing competitive processes. A prime example is the $620 million Pentagon loan to Vulcan Elements—a startup in which the President’s son holds a stake. This loan bypassed standard procurement and technical reviews via executive order, yet congressional leadership continues to block all attempts to investigate or audit this decision, shielding the process from public scrutiny. - Conflicts of Interest: Reports indicate White House aides pressured agencies to inflate the value of firms tied to the President’s family. Beyond Vulcan, startups like Unusual Machines and PsiQuantum have rapidly secured millions in federal contracts, creating a clear pattern of influence peddling. This favoritism rigs the system, forcing honest American businesses to compete not against better products, but against government-backed corruption. - Erosion of Oversight: By blocking investigations—such as the House Natural Resources Subcommittee’s refusal to subpoena officials regarding these deals—committees are abandoning their constitutional duty to check executive power. Transparency must be applied equally, regardless of party. I urge you to take the following common-sense actions: 1. Support Independent Oversight: Demand full transparency and support committee hearings and subpoenas to investigate contracts awarded to entities linked to administration officials. 2. Champion Ethics Reform: Support legislation strengthening anti-corruption laws, including stricter recusal requirements for the President’s family and mandatory asset divestiture for senior officials. 3. End Corporate Favoritism: Codify and enforce strict competitive bidding for federal loans and contracts to ensure taxpayer dollars are awarded based on merit, not political connections. Our republic relies on the integrity of those in power. I expect my representatives to prioritize institutional preservation, fiscal responsibility, and the rule of law over partisan loyalty. Please let me know what specific steps you are taking to investigate these concerns and ensure our government remains accountable to the people.
