I am writing to urge you to ban the use of political deepfakes. At this moment, offenders must simply disclose the use of AI. This is not enough. We've already seen a white Florida school board candidate add a non-existent group of Black supporters to an image, and most egregiously, an AI-generated ad purported to show U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico (TX) wearing a dress and singing a showtune about trans people. This is unacceptable, and the people of Michigan deserve honesty in ads.
