Get your act together — now.
While you posture, delay, perform cable-news theatrics, and pretend this is all just politics — real Americans are holding this country together with unpaid labor.
Air traffic controllers are working up to double shifts, on skeleton staffing — for zero pay.
They are the ones separating metal tubes full of 200 human beings from slamming into each other at nearly 600 mph.
During the 2018–2019 shutdown, the National Air Traffic Controllers Association publicly warned that FAA staffing had hit a 30-year low.
A single sick-out at the New York TRACON (covering JFK, LGA, and Newark) triggered national delays within hours.
We are walking directly back into that disaster — again.
TSA is no different.
TSA officers are working extreme hours, without pay, and told to “just manage it.”
During the last shutdown, TSA sick calls doubled in major airport hubs — ATL, DFW, IAH, MIA — and Miami literally had to close screening lanes. Lines hit 90+ minutes.
This is not hypothetical.
This is not “politics.”
This is the U.S. aviation safety net — and you are letting it fray.
Right now your inaction is manufacturing:
• controller fatigue in radar rooms
• overwhelmed checkpoints
• longer processing times
• suspended training pipelines
• increased near-miss risk
Congress is playing chicken with the safest airspace on Earth.
The very bare minimum — the least morally defensible standard — is to fund the professionals who keep Americans alive in the air and safe on the ground.
So do your job:
Open the government.
Fund FAA operations.
Fund TSA.
There is no excuse. There is no justification. There is no spin.
Do your jobs — so that they can safely do theirs.
Sincerely,
A furious American who absolutely refuses to accept “airport catastrophe” as a side-effect of political theater.
