Reject partisan spending bill, fund government responsibly

As your constituent, I am urging you to vote against cloture and reject the Republican-backed spending bill to fund the government through September. This partisan proposal from the House drastically increases defense spending while cutting critical non-defense programs that support American families and communities. The bill's draconian cuts to non-defense discretionary spending below 2024 levels would undermine vital services and investments in areas like education, health care, environmental protection, and scientific research. Meanwhile, it pours additional funds into militarization and immigration enforcement. This lopsided approach favoring defense over domestic priorities is misguided and fails to address the real needs of the American people. Furthermore, the rushed and partisan process through which this bill was drafted, without any input from Democrats, is unacceptable for legislation as consequential as keeping the government funded. Funding the government should be a bipartisan effort that balances priorities across the political spectrum. Instead of this reckless Republican bill, I urge you to support a clean short-term continuing resolution to keep the government open and allow time for good-faith bipartisan negotiations on responsible long-term spending levels. A shutdown would be disastrous and must be avoided at all costs. Please put partisanship aside and work across the aisle to fund our government properly. The American people are counting on you to govern responsibly.
