The administration's policies regarding undocumented immigrant children are deeply concerning and represent a disturbing escalation from previous practices. Revoking protections, detaining children for extended periods, and creating obstacles to family reunification are unnecessarily cruel measures that will inflict severe trauma. Children should never be treated as threats or bargaining chips in immigration enforcement. There must be a more humane approach that upholds legal safeguards and upholds the dignity of these vulnerable young people, many of whom have grown up as Americans. I urge you to use your authority to oppose these policies and ensure children are protected, not unjustly penalized for their immigration status. Purposefully harming children cannot be justified by any rationale of border security or law and order. Please take action to stop these unethical and psychologically damaging practices against undocumented minors.
